This bundle contains resources for Rail Safety education sessions as part of Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service Prevention Strategy. Each resource within this bundle has been chosen to give a full range of knowledge skills and supplement NFRS messaging, providing consistent and valuable key safety information suitable for children from age 4-11 years old.
How To Use
The different resources in the bundle help to teach, support and consolidate learning around rail safety.
This bundle is made up of five parts, each used in different ways to build areas of knowledge, culminating in activities to demonstrate what the children have learnt.
Step 1: Print out and display the ‘know your emergency services’ posters. For a further challenge, the poster can be cut up into four parts, with the children working in pairs to complete a treasure hunt collecting the four different emergency services.
Step 2: Ensure children are familiar with how to call the emergency services using the two 999 call resources. A further lesson to build on this would be to write out a set of instructions for a younger class/ design a poster to this end.
Step 3: Look at the Railway Code and the different areas of advice. Complete the activity sheet.
Step 4- if age appropriate: Look at the consequences of hoax calls to 999
