After watching the railway safety video and applying their note taking skills, in this lesson, pupils will create a resource to teach others how to keep safe on and around railways. This lesson provides learners with the opportunity to apply literacy and computing skills whilst learning about risks and taking steps to reduce them. It could be used to reinforce and apply the skills of non-fiction writing: leaflets, posters, non-chronological reports, informative videos or presentations.
How To Use
Use this lesson plan alongside the accompanying video to teach Upper KS2 students about railway safety. At an age where they are becoming more independent, the messages in this lesson are vital to develop their understanding of the dangers of railways. There is a video that is needed to deliver this lesson. This can be found by clicking on 'Resource 1' below. Having watched the video the pupils can take part in an activity to create a presentation about railway safety. This could be done as a poster or by using computer software to create a digital version.
