IT07 NFCC Training and Competencies Guidance for FRS working with children and young people

Description

The essential ingredient in the success of any youth engagement activity is the ability of the adult to develop professional, positive and nurturing relationships with the young person. The impact that Fire and Rescue Services can have by building positive relationships with young people most at risk and enable them to develop Prosocial Skills is widely recognised. These relationships are based on trust and respect and create the environment required for the young person to develop and thrive. It is therefore imperative to the success of the engagement that our employees and volunteers have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their tasks in a safe and effective manner. This document outlines training and competencies FRS staff working with CYP should have.

How To Use

The provision of appropriate training, supervision and quality assurance will help ensure that those delivering services to Children and Young People (CYP) are competent to do so. The Training and Competence guidance document will support services to identify the appropriate skills, knowledge and understanding required to deliver StayWise effectively, efficiently and safely to CYP.
