These activities have been chosen to support our KS4 Fire Safety school talks. After we have visited your school, the activities can be used to enhance student knowledge and understanding of the work of fire safety and related issues and skills through creative tasks and more practical activities in a range of lessons.

How To Use

We suggest that the 'Stop Drop and Roll' activity is used in the hall, perhaps in a PE lesson, so that the students have a big open space in which to practice. A number of the lessons could be added to the PSHE curriculum as they involve safe decision making and first aid related skills, such as the arson/hoax calls, first aid for burns and scalds and fireworks and anti-social behaviour lessons. Students studying computer programming would benefit from the python programming lesson, and the wildfires lesson could be used in geography or humanities lessons to help students understand the environmental impact of wildfires. All of these materials can be used together to enhance the curriculum in a variety of subjects to provide students with a cross-curricular approach to understanding fire safety.
