The Chair Switch icebreaker is an energetic, fast‑moving activity that gets cadets thinking quickly, listening carefully, and reacting to commands while working in a group. Using simple equipment - just chairs - it encourages coordination, focus, and friendly competition as cadets move around the circle without letting their chairs fall. The final challenge adds an extra burst of excitement, making it a fun way to start a session or re‑energise a group.

How To Use

Stand behind your chair in the circle and get ready to listen carefully to the instructor’s commands. When you hear a command - like LEFT, RIGHT, CLAP, TOUCH THE FLOOR, or TOUCH YOUR HEAD - you need to react quickly while letting go of your chair without letting it fall over. If your chair tips, you’re out.
Keep playing until only two of you are left. For the final round, stand back‑to‑back: when you hear a vegetable, take a step forward, and when you hear a fruit, spin and be the first to shout “FRUIT SALAD!” to win. It’s all about quick thinking, focus, and having fun together.
