Foam Fencing is a lively, high‑energy icebreaker that gets cadets moving, thinking, and competing in a fun and safe way. Using cut swimming noodles and plastic cups, cadets duel 1‑on‑1 to protect their own cup while trying to knock off their opponent’s. The activity boosts focus, coordination, confidence, and teamwork, making it ideal as a warm‑up before drills or a re‑engagement tool during sessions.

Set up two lines of cadets facing each other and explain that each round is a 1v1 fencing duel using foam noodle “swords.” Give each player two noodle halves - one as their sword and one held upright with a cup balanced on top. When you call “BATTLE!”, players must defend their cup while trying to knock off their opponent’s, staying within a small designated area.
Rotate through the lines so every cadet gets a turn, encouraging those waiting to cheer, support, and build team spirit. Use this as a warm‑up, an energiser, or a competitive team challenge. Consider adding optional PPE for extra safety and remind cadets to stay controlled and respectful throughout the activity.
