Description
This lesson plan is a guide to delivering a session using the 'Alex and the Firefighters - Literacy' video. Using scenarios firefighters encounter during their shifts, the video explores the importance of following instructions and how learning about bossy verbs is also learning how instructions can keep us safe and prevent accidents. The video encourages children to think about how bossy verbs give commands whilst also teaching them the importance of having a home fire escape plan for example the commands- stay calm, shut doors, alert others, stay low, find the exit and call for help all contain bossy verbs which could save a life in an emergency.
