This Diamond 9 activity encourages pupils to explore and discuss the consequences of Nia's actions after a fire-setting incident. Using a set of consequence cards, pupils work together to rank the impacts from most significant to least significant, helping them understand how one unsafe decision can affect individuals, families, communities, the environment and future opportunities. The activity develops critical thinking, discussion and decision-making skills while reinforcing key fire safety messages from Nia's story.

How To Use

After reading or watching Nia's story, ask pupils to cut out and sort the nine consequence cards into a Diamond 9 formation. Pupils should place the consequence they believe had the greatest impact at the top and the least significant at the bottom, discussing and justifying their choices as a group. Use the suggested discussion questions to explore different viewpoints and encourage reflection on how safe choices could have prevented the incident. An extension activity challenges pupils to identify safer alternatives that may have avoided the top consequences.
