Working Together – Emergency Services in the Community helps senior phase students understand how the Fire and Rescue Service works in partnership with other emergency and support organisations during incidents. The presentation explores multi‑agency working in situations such as road traffic collisions, fires, flooding, search and rescue, and major emergencies. Learners gain insight into the roles of services including the police, ambulance service, RNLI, mountain and lowland rescue teams, coastguard, community responders, and the armed forces, highlighting the importance of teamwork, coordination, and communication.
How To Use
- Use the slides to introduce the concept of multi‑agency working and why emergency services need to cooperate during incidents.
- Discuss each organisation in turn, focusing on their role, responsibilities, and how they support the Fire and Rescue Service.
- Use the group activity slide to encourage discussion about different types of incidents and which services might be involved.
- Link the content to real‑world examples, news stories, or local incident types to make learning relevant.
Use the summary questions to recap learning and check understanding of how and when services work together.
