Alex and the Firefighters - Science Year 2

Description

This worksheet accompanies the 'Alex and the Firefighters - Science' video,  an engaging and interactive animated video which focuses on materials and their properties.  Science helps us to understand fire safety and Firefighter Alex explains how firefighters equipment - just like everyday items - needs to be made of the right materials to keep us and them safe. The video challenges children to use scientific reasoning to think about everyday items and their properties, investigate what they are made of and consider the reasons why.  This worksheet provides two activities for the children to complete. The first invites the children to think about the material that is used to make each item and find a word that describes one of the properties of that material whilst the second activity encourages children to look at a plan of an office and shade with their pencil the rooms that will be full of smoke because of an open door.

How To Use

This worksheet is designed to be used with Year 2 children alongside the 'Alex and the Firefighters - Science' video which can be found pinned below.  During the video, Firefighter Alex allows children time to complete the activities on the worksheet.  The video can be paused to allow for extra time to complete the activities if necessary.  It is advised to print out the worksheet beforehand and to ensure each child has a pen or a pencil in order to complete the worksheet before playing the video.
