An engaging and interactive animated video which introduces the concept of bossy verbs and instructions.  Using scenarios firefighters encounter during their shifts, the video explores the importance of following instructions and how learning about bossy verbs is also learning how instructions can keep us safe and prevent accidents.   The video encourages children to think about how bossy verbs give commands whilst also teaching them the importance of having a home fire escape plan for example the commands- stay calm, shut doors, alert others, stay low, find the exit and call for help all contain bossy verbs which could save a life in an emergency.

How To Use

This video is designed to be used with the accompanying worksheets which can be found pinned below. The video can be used with children in Years 1 to 3 and the worksheets are differentiated according to the English Curriculum programme of study for each year group.  The worksheets give children the opportunity to develop their understanding of bossy verbs whilst providing the opportunity to learn the actions they need to take in the event of a fire.
