A fire safety lesson with an English focus, which uses a newspaper article to develop comprehension skills before asking students to create a leaflet containing fire safety advice.
How To Use
Use this lesson to incorporate English skills into PSHE learning. Initially the meaning of Inference and advice are discussed. Students are presented with an information sheet, giving true facts about a house fire which they are encouraged to analyse and answer questions about. Then some important home fire safety information can be shared, specifically looking at causes and preventative measures. Students are then invited to formulate an advice leaflet using their knowledge of home fire safety.
