Know your way out!

Around the country, fire and rescue service colleagues share storybooks with children so that important safety messages can be learnt in a fun and interactive way. As we come up to 5 March when we celebrate World Book Day®, StayWise is encouraging teachers and home educators to have a look at the Know Your Way Out bundle of resources to share with children and help them to plan their way out if there is a fire at home.  

'Know Your Way Out' is a cleverly illustrated book telling the story of Ben and his family and how they reacted quickly to a fire in their home. Within the Know Your Way Out bundle, there are different lesson plans and activities to assist with introducing the topic of escape plans and the importance of knowing your way out in the event of a fire. British Sign Language, Makaton and Widgit versions are in the bundle along with a beautifully narrated version by one of our Fire Cadets, Ellen.
