Home Fire Safety Youth Group Visit

Description

This presentation has been designed to support delivery of a home fire safety session to a visiting youth group.  It has been created for a KS2 audience of age 8 - 11.   The activities that form this session are based around the badge requirements for the Scouts and Guides’ fire safety award.  The session includes:

  • What to do if you discover a fire at home
  • Dangers at home and precautions that can be taken
  • The benefits of smoke detectors
  • How to make a 999 call to the fire service.

There is a session guide also available for further support.

How To Use

Use this presentation alongside the session guide which acts as a prompt for the firefighter who is leading the session, it also has ideas for questions that could be asked to encourage the children to think more carefully about the topics covered.  It has a timing guide to help with planning the session and allows time in the visit for the students to tour the fire station and take part in some more hands-on activities too.  This presentation contains the images and video that are featured in the session to help engage the students and keep everything in one place for smooth delivery.

You can find the session guide by scrolling a little further down the page.
