Yes I Can Play 😊 or No Stay Away ☚ī¸ is a fire safety sorting activity designed to help children identify which everyday items are safe to play with and which items could be dangerous. Through discussion and decision-making, children develop their understanding of fire safety and learn how to make safer choices at home and in their community.

How To Use

  • Print and cut out the picture cards.
  • Introduce the two categories: "Yes I Can Play" and "No Stay Away."
  • Ask children to look at each picture and decide whether it is safe to play with or should be avoided.
  • Encourage children to explain their choices and discuss why certain items may be dangerous.
  • Reinforce key fire safety messages, focusing on staying away from sources of heat, fire, and other hazardous items.
  • Review the answers together and use the activity as an opportunity to discuss how to stay safe around potential fire risks.

The session plan can be found below along with larger versions of the image cards.
