The Community Consequences Activity Sheet is a discussion-based resource designed to accompany the Deliberate Fire Setting: Consequences for Everyone lesson. It uses consequence cards and reflective questions to help young people explore the impact of deliberate fire setting on the community, emergency services, families and their own future. The activity encourages empathy, critical thinking and an understanding of how one decision can have far-reaching consequences.

How To Use

  • Print and cut out the consequence cards before the session.
  • Introduce the deliberate fire-setting scenario from the lesson and discuss what may happen as a result.
  • Ask the young person to sort, group or discuss the consequence cards under the four themes: Community, Fire Service, Family, and Legal and Personal Consequences.
  • Use the discussion questions provided on each section to encourage deeper thinking about who is affected and how.
  • Support the young person in identifying safer choices and reflecting on how their actions can affect other people and future opportunities.
