This storybook activity is designed for delivery to Key Stage 1/2 children and young people (CYP). The session is designed to reinforce key fire safety concepts and encourage critical thinking about safe and unsafe behaviours for children under 11 years of age.
How To Use
Use this with individual children that have been identified as displaying increased curiosity about fire or have already been involved in potentially dangerous fire-setting activities or with a class to share these important safety messages. Use this plan to support you in developing a conservation with the CYP; there are lots of question ideas you could use to try to embed the messages about the dangers and consequences of playing with lighters and matches and about developing escape plans at home.
