Young Road Users

Description

The Young Road User presentation, created by Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, is designed to deliver key road safety information to Primary School-aged children, primarily between the ages of 7 and 11. With road casualty highlighting the risks posed to children on their walk to and from school as independence increases, this resource aims to increase awareness and reduce risk to this age group. Government guidance promotes road safety education in schools across all key stages, notably Stop, Look, Listen, Think; safely crossing the road; car seats; cycle safety; seatbelts, and planning a safe journey.

How To Use

This session could be delivered internally within school to a class as part of PSHE lessons or as a special session led by a blue light representative.  It covers important PSHE curriculum objectives from the core theme of Keeping Safe.  As students in KS2 begin to slowly explore greater independence and begin walking to school alone, the safety messages in this session are vital to develop their safety awareness.
