Urban exploring or "Urbex", is a fairly recent term describing the act of entering abandoned and dilapidated buildings, that are often fenced off or hidden out of plain sight. This lesson is aimed at 11 - 16 year olds and has been developed by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service. It aims to educate young people about how dangerous this behaviour can be and the serious consequences it can have.
How To Use
The presentation contains details about how to use the accompanying worksheets and resources. The activity and discussions can be adapted for the different ages of students taking part. Older students would have a more in-depth understanding while the younger students may have more of a surface level understanding. The activity aim is to promote discussion among the young people about this dangerous behaviour.
Review the images on the presentation before showing them to the students to assess whether they are appropriate for the cohort you are delivering to.
