The aim of this session is to enable Fire Cadets to develop knowledge of important navigational skills used by the Fire and Rescue Services when travelling to incidents.
The key objectives are to:
- Describe how different navigation aids and techniques are used in the Fire and Rescue Service.
- Explain how Mobile Data Terminals aid the Fire and Rescue Service at operational incidents.
- Describe how maps are used to navigate to incidents.
- Describe how maps are used at incidents.
- Use appropriate resources to navigate between different points.
- Plan routes between alternative points focusing on the times of the day to achieve the quickest journey time.
How To Use
This presentation is for Unit 18 for Fire Cadet Award 2. Cadets should have completed all of Fire Cadet Award 1 before beginning to work on Award 2. Your instructors will be able to explain the structure of Fire Cadet Award 2 and which units are mandatory and which are optional.
