This lesson addresses anti-social behaviour and specifically deliberate fire setting. It explains what this actually means and the serious consequences that this behaviour can have. There are two videos that feature in this lesson - the first demonstrates the far-reaching effects of deliberate fire setting behaviour and the second shows a real-life scenario. There is also an opportunity to focus on and discuss peer pressure and how to avoid being influenced by others to get involved in dangerous situations. The parting message emphasizes that it is not just personal safety that young people need to think about but also the safety of others.

How To Use

Use the lesson plan to support delivery of this session and guide you through the activities, discussion points and videos. There is a section of the lesson that focuses on local fire service statistics, you will need to research these statistics for your area and they can be added to the presentation prior to delivery of the session. This resource was created by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, so it currently has the data for their area featured in the presentation and acts as an example of the statistics to include.

You can find the lesson plan by scrolling a little further down the page.
