Description
Building sites are very dangerous places but lots of children use them to play in. Remember building sites are not playgrounds. While teaching this vital safety message to the class, this activity also gets the children involved in a measuring activity. By using the actual weight of a brick and multiplying this by the number of bricks in a stack, it gives the children a real-life example of the dangers around a building site.
How To Use
This activity can be done at home or in the classroom. You will need to either have a house brick available or find out how heavy a house brick is, to do this activity. Using maths with everyday objects will provide a relatable learning process. This activity will also provide children and young people an understanding of how dangerous building sites are.
