Created by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, this lesson plan accompanies the Smart Choices Safer Communities presentation and provides facilitator guidance for delivering a Key Stage 3 lesson on anti-social behaviour, seasonal safety and personal safety. The lesson explores the impact of deliberate fire-setting and anti-social behaviour on individuals and communities, while helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed to make safer choices during darker nights and throughout the year.
How To Use
Use this lesson plan alongside the accompanying presentation to support delivery of a structured, discussion-based session. Facilitator notes are provided for each slide, with opportunities for questioning, video reflection and group discussion to reinforce key learning. The lesson can be adapted to meet the needs of different groups and used by teachers, fire service personnel or other professionals to promote personal safety, responsible behaviour and community awareness.
