KS1 Pedestrian Road Safety is an interactive road safety lesson that helps young pupils develop the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe near roads. Through discussion, images, videos and practical examples, children learn about safe pedestrian behaviour, different types of road crossings and the importance of following the Green Cross Code. This lesson has been mapped to the Northern Ireland Curriculum, supporting learning within PDMU (Personal Development and Mutual Understanding), Language and Literacy and The World Around Us.
How To Use
Use the presentation to introduce road safety hazards and discuss how children can stay safe when walking near roads. Explore safe places to cross, the role of people who help keep roads safe and the steps of the Green Cross Code.
Encourage pupils to identify safe and unsafe behaviours in the images, discuss their choices and reinforce key messages about staying alert, being visible and crossing roads safely.
