KS3 Road Safety - Independent Travel

Description

This lesson, created by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, focuses on the dangers of being a vulnerable road user i.e. not travelling inside a vehicle. This includes pedestrians and cyclists. Aimed at KS3 students, this lesson and presentation teaches students about how they can behave more sensibly and safely when they are near and crossing roads. In this age group the chances of being distracted when walking with friends is very high, particularly with young people using their phones when they are out and about. The presentation for this lesson is packed with safety advice and facts and figures to support their understanding of the dangers that they face as vulnerable road users.

The presentation for this session has 10 slides and will take approximately 20 - 30 minutes to deliver depending on participation from the audience.
