Is This Safe? - Red Flags

This activity uses a short ‘point-of-view’ film to address the dangers of going into the sea when red flags are flying. Children should watch the short film, and decide whether they think it is safe to go into the water, before finding out what happens next. To conclude, a lifeguard engages with the audience to reinforce safe behaviours. 

During the video there are pause points to encourage the children to make a decision about what they would do in the situation portrayed. Use this opportunity to encourage discussion between the children and develop their understanding of how to stay safe at the beach.
