This session addresses some essential learning about fire safety. It explores the main causes of fire in the home, how to prevent a fire from happening and how to escape should a fire happen. It looks at the importance of smoke alarms and testing them, how to establish a bedtime routine at home and the importance of escape plans and making sure exits are clear in case there is an emergency.

Deliver this session as part of PSHE learning about keeping safe.  This session could be lead by a teacher or a fire service professional. Use the presentation accompanying this lesson plan to support delivery. This plan contains guidance and extra safety information and background knowledge if needed.
