Description
The fire and rescue service know how important it is for everyone to understand what to do in the event of a fire. It is important for children to understand how their actions can help to keep them safe and how they need to act quickly in an emergency. This lesson exposes the children to important fire safety messages and how they can stay safe by knowing what to do if they are involved in a fire. It also reinforces the fact that fire fighters help us but we must only call 999 when it’s a real emergency. By using maths skills, the children can practise their use of the four operations by solving calculations to find the hidden messages.
How To Use
Children can engage in their maths learning and feel motivated to crack the code to find the hidden messages. How many messages can they find? Challenge them with increasing levels of difficulty in the calculations. A real test of their use of the four operations and a fun way to expose them to important fire safety messages.
