This lesson teaches cadets how to safely identify and use three types of fire extinguishers - Foam, CO₂, and Water - along with the correct method for using a fire blanket. Through a live‑fire training rig, cadets learn which extinguisher to use for different fire types, practise correct discharge techniques, and understand the dangers of misuse or tampering. The session builds confidence, practical skills, and essential fire safety awareness for real‑world scenarios.

How To Use

In this session, you’ll learn how to spot the differences between Foam, CO₂ and Water extinguishers and practise using them safely on real fire scenarios. You’ll also learn the correct way to put out a chip‑pan fire with a fire blanket.

Your instructor will show you how each extinguisher works and when it should be used. You’ll then get a turn to use them yourself - wearing full PPE - while following the P.A.S.S steps: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep. Some extinguishers work slightly differently, so listen carefully to the safety tips.
