After the fire - smoke detectors

Description

One theory is that The Great Fire of London started because the fire in the oven in the bakery hadn’t been extinguished properly at the end of the day. These activities relate the children’s Great Fire of London learning to the important topic of smoke alarms when considering fire prevention.

How To Use

Back in 1666, they had no devices to give them a warning that a fire had started. Nowadays, we are lucky to have smoke alarms that give us an early warning to help us to stay safe. Encourage the class to consider their own homes and whether they have working smoke alarms in place.

Click on 'Resource 1' below to find a smoke detector home survey that the children could use after they have taken part in this session at school.
