The fire and rescue service attend many different types of emergencies and incidents and some of these involve chemical spills.   This colouring activity shows two firefighters wearing hazmat suits, which are part of a firefighters personal protective equipment (PPE)  and are worn as protection against hazardous materials or substances.  Some hazmat suits can be worn over a firefighters breathing apparatus kit to ensure a supply of breathable air which is what would be on the back of the firefighters in the picture.

Colouring activities can be used to help build fine motor skills and promote mindfulness, whilst allowing children the opportunity to expand their imaginations.  This colouring activity can be used as a stand alone activity or to support and consolidate learning following topics such as people who help us.

How To Use

This colouring activity shows two firefighters wearing hazmat suits, which are part of a firefighters personal protective equipment (PPE)  and are worn as protection against hazardous materials or substances.  Some hazmat suits can be worn over a firefighters breathing apparatus kit to ensure a supply of breathable air.  Children can get creative and colour in this chemical spill picture using any method they choose, will it be with crayons, colouring pencils, paints or felt pens?  Perhaps the children would like to get even more creative and use glitter, tissue paper or foil to enhance their pictures?  However they choose to complete their picture, this activity will provide a great discussion point around the role of a firefighter.
