The aim of this session is to provide fire cadets with the knowledge and skills to use basic water delivery equipment effectively.

The key objectives covered are for fire cadets to be able to:

  • Demonstrate how to roll out, underrun and make up a length of hose.
  • Connect and disconnect couplings and a branch.
  • Set up and use a hydrant.
  • Use a main branch to deliver water.

How To Use

This is the first session in Module 4 - Operational Drills. Fire Cadets must have undertaken manual handling and basic health and safety training.  Appropriate PPE should be issued and in good condition. Operational equipment should be tested and approved before use and cadet records should be reviewed for known medical conditions and physical limitations.
