Water Safety (Films)

Description

This lesson plan provides delivery guidance for the 3 water safety films pinned to this plan. This resource has been created to educate young people about the dangers of different water features and hydraulics, show people what to look out for and how to deal with certain situations. These presentations are predominantly for key stage 3 which is age 11 to 14 but can be used for other ages where appropriate. This target audience aligns to the National Drowning Prevention Strategy 2016 - 2026.

How To Use

This presentation has been designed to be delivered in 3 different ways - Gold, Silver and Bronze. Gold – This involves using the Water Flume. Due to the setup, this will take longer and will require other resources such as an electricity supply and enough water to demonstrate the different water features in the flume. Gold will use the flume and then use Module 2 and 3 videos. It is recommended that Gold has 2 facilitators. Silver – This involves using all 3 videos in digital forms for the presentation if the flume is not available. Bronze – This is for a shorter presentation such as an assembly or part of a carousel of different activities, for this the focus is on Module 3.

The Module films can be found below by clicking on Resource 1, 2 or 3.  Resource 4 is the presenter guidance notes.
