This workbook is part of the UL Xplorlabs Fire Forensics module. The session enables students to explore the principles of heat transfer and ignition by conducting a series of practical experiments.

How To Use

You will make observations about how thermal energy is transferred and how transferred heat starts fires. You will compare the surface mass ratio of a block of wood and a toothpick, then you will make observations about how different materials ignite and burn.

'Resource 1' is the video linked to this session and the teacher guide can be found further down the page.

The lesson bundle below contains all the teacher guides, workbooks, videos and planning documents for the whole UL Xplorlabs Fire Forensics module.
