Hate Crime and Percentages

Description

Maths Lesson designed to enable students to list the different types of hate crime, knowing which are the most common in the UK and how to report a hate crime. Students will be able to work with percentages; calculating percentage increases and decreases and some will be able to calculate reverse percentages.

How To Use

Students discuss what they think Hate Crime is and the different types. Facts and figures are provided to demonstrate hate crime trends. Examples of race and religion hate crime, gender identity hate crime are considered and discussed. From the data, students are invited to work out what percentage of incidents each strand makes up. Students are provided with information on how to keep safe and report a hate crime.
