A detailed lesson plan providing the guidance needed to deliver a cross-curricular PSHE/literacy lesson on fire safety, focusing on the dangers of lighters and matches using a story as the learning focus.
How To Use
Learning about fire risks and the dangers of lighters and matches is important at an early age. This PSHE lesson is aimed at Early Years Foundation Stage and has cross-curricular links to literacy: speaking and listening and reading comprehension. It is based on the story of 'The Birthday Cake Mistake' which teaches the children that you should leave adults to use lighters and matches safely. Includes linked activities to further extend the learning.
Click on 'Resource 1' below to find the interactive storybook to use in this lesson. 'Resource 2' is the sequencing activity worksheet which is also required for the lesson. Under 'Related Resources' there are different versions of the story available to cater for children with additional learning requirements and lots of other activites linked to the story.
